December 3rd – Christmas Joy Wall Hanging

These 12 Days of Christmas Fabric projects will be featured on my YouTube Channel Starting December 1st 2021. These blog posts may not contain all of the assembly instructions so check out the videos on YouTube for further instructions or reach out to me for assistance! YouTube Link
When I designed this pattern I had a very specific look in mind. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to achieve it… I mean… You can’t always find the fabric you had in mind. I really really wanted some white fabric for the background that had some designs in it that had a wonderful Christmas feel to it. I didn’t want the background to be plain. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. It brings me Joy, so I wanted this wall hanging to really shine. I wanted every single inch of it to scream Joy. I think these Felicity Batiks did just that!

I created some PDFs to help get some prep work done for this project. You can download them for free below.
Materials
- Assorted White Fabric – 1/2 Yard
- Assorted Red Fabric – 1/2 yard
- Assorted Green Fabric – 1/2 yard
- Inner Border – 1/2 yard
- Outer Border – 1 yard
- Backing fabric – 1.5 yards
- Batting – 30×60″ piece
- Basic Sewing Supplies
The dimensions for this Christmas Joy Wall Hanging are approximately 24″ x 50″.
To create the half square triangles for this wall hanging I really like using the Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmer. My HSTs turn out perfect every single time with this tool. You can purchase one here.
Note that in the layout PDFs I write in parenthesis’s that some of the cuts will be used to create HSTs later. One of the colored squares will be placed right sides together with the same size white square. They will be marked corner to corner and sewn with a 1/4″ on both sides of the marked line to make two HSTs. These are all sewn big and then trimmed down to ensure the perfect size.
I look forward to seeing you for the premier of this tutorial on December 3rd!
Bye for now.
