Spinning Flower Bed – Block One

Week one Quilt-A-Long

It’s week one and today we will start on block one for our quilt. This block comes together easily. You will start by cutting one large block for the center and then create some half square triangles with your background fabric and the fat quarters you selected for your diamond fabric.

Materials

Fabric prepped to create my half square triangles.

Prep

To create my half square triangles I draw a line from corner to corner on my background fabric.

Place a diamond fabric and a background fabric right sides together. Then sew a 1/4″ seam along both sides of the drawn line.

Cut along the drawn line.

Trim the half square triangles to 3.5″ squares.

Press all of your half square triangles.

Lay out Block One

Sew Together

Sew everything together to complete the block.

Press your seams.

Complete Four Block Ones!

Make sure you complete four Block ones!

Please stop by my Facebook page and share some photos of your Block one!

The page is called “Create Beautiful Quilts with Fallon Caldwell”

Stop by next week for Block Two.

Half Square Triangle Trim Tool

I love my HST trim tool. It has come in so handy when creating half square triangles. The package I purchased comes with two trim tools giving a wide variety of HST sizes.

I purchased the trim tool on amazon.

Bye for now.
